Hi T-Birds Fans:
A big thank you to our season ticket holders for coming out in force last Thursday night to our first (what I hope is) annual Mixology Event. We had a great time tasting the delicious concoctions produced by the fabulously talented Mixologist from Southern Wine and Spirits! The very “creative” results of our drink naming contest should be up soon on the website, so you can vote for your favorite drink and name it too. Congrats to Richie Guerrero for winning the right to appear and do some “color commentary” during one of our upcoming halftimes. That should be a treat to hear, and we are looking forward to it!
The Storm Chasers are busy shooting the photos for their 2009-10 calendar today, and we are getting ready for our ABQ the Magazine Launch Party, coming up on Oct. 28th at EXPO. Team tryouts in Albuquerque will be Oct. 17-18 too. We hope you will plan to join us at our Draft Party in early November (date is to be announced soon). The season is getting very close and we are planning lots of fun and special entertainment at this year’s games.
Also, I want to welcome two great new sponsors: Cricket and SolutionWerx. Both companies have stepped up to partner with us this season and we are thrilled to have them join us. We love our fans to embrace and support all of our sponsors, so please let ‘em know you are a T-Birds fan when you do business with them and they will be happy to help you, too. We hope you are enjoying the NBA Playoffs and Finals as much as we are! This has been an outstanding time for the NBA, full of thrilling nail-biting action and a display of some of the best talent that the NBA has to offer. We are especially proud of all of the Development League players who have participated in these games…that’s what our League has always been about…developing new talent for the NBA and contributing to the NBA rosters through training and developing the rising stars in the game.
It’s been a real treat to watch the former Development League players Chris “The Birdman” Anderson for the Nuggets and Jordan Farmar for the Lakers, among others, seeing lots of action in the NBA.
Our game schedule for next season is almost ready to be announced. In the meantime, Coach John Coffino, the Storm Chasers and Trey will all be around this summer participating in lots of community events, so give us a call if we can help make your event a success. We are also delighted to announce that our favorite local player, former Lobo Mark Walters, will be in town this summer working for the team, making community appearances and helping Coach Coffino. Mark has always been a big fan favorite and is excited about contributing to the Thunderbirds as part of our upcoming Jr. Thunderbirds Camps for kids.

"Hi TBirds fans….We are hard at work at the office gearing up for a summer filled with fun activities and events and planning some exciting changes for the upcoming season.
We were so pleased and proud to welcome Dan Reed, the President of the NBA Development League, as well as Governor Richardson, to the April 10th game. The Governor loved the exciting action, the quality of play and the fan enthusiasm. We are extremely encouraged after our meeting with him, because we have the Governor’s full support going into next season in our efforts to bring additional improvements to the Arena, as well as in making the fan experience a bigger and better one next year. Although Mayor Chavez was unable to join us for our last game, he has also enthusiastically thrown his support behind the team, and we appreciate his efforts on the team’s behalf as well.
In the coming weeks, we will be announcing detailed plans for some summer basketball camps for kids. We are also working on a Celebrity Golf Tournament, so start practicing those putts! The Coach, the Storm Chasers and Trey will all be around this summer participating in lots of community events, so give us a call if we can help make your event a success.
